On September 19th, in the office of Vietnam Climate Innovation Center (VCIC) – 262 Ba Trieu, Ha Noi, a signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam Climate Innovation Center (VCIC) and The Australian Water Association (AWA) taking place.
Participating in the meeting and signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam Climate Innovation Center (VCIC) and The Australian Water Association (AWA), on VCIC’s side were Mr. Pham Duc Nghiem – Deputy Head of General Department – NATEC cum VCIC PMU Director. On the side of AWA were Mr. Jonathan McKeown - Chief Executive and Representatives of the typical businesses in Australia's water sector. On the Australia’s side were Mr. Justin Baguley Counsellor of Economic and Development Cooperation. In addition, there was the presence of Mr. Mac Quoc Anh – Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Hanoi Small and Medium Enterprises Association.

In recent years, development cooperation between Vietnam and Australia has experienced a shift, from a relationship based on development aid to one which focuses on trade and investment, contributing to improve the business environment and develop business opportunities to a commencement of a series of initiatives designed to strengthen relations and share expertise and innovate technology in water.
To support enterprises in water sector in Vietnam and Australia, The Australian Water Association (AWA) and Vietnam Climate Innovation Center (VCIC) signed Memorandum of Understanding on September 19th, 2017, in Hanoi. According to the memorandum, the two sides would cooperate in promoting closer economic cooperation and assisting the Vietnam businesses in providing sustainable and efficient water management solutions in the context of facing to new extremes in climate and the associated challenges.

In general, VCIC and AWA would focus on supporting: Trade and Business advisory services, Training and Support Services, and Special projects to develop technological innovations and new business models offering commercially viable products and services that foster climate change adaptation and mitigation.
